Extermination of spiders around houses

Yellow spider extermination

In the greater Montreal area, the most common spider is the “Cheiracanthium mildei” or yellow spider, a spider that can bite!
If spiders have invaded your home, it is best to work with a spider exterminator to put an end to their infestation quickly.

What damage do spiders cause?

Other than being unattractive, spiders don’t do any damage. However, they can cover a crawl space with a large number of webs and reproduce quickly (1000 eggs per year). Only black widows bite when they feel attacked and release a venom that is not lethal, however.

Usually, spiders are fearful and elusive, and they are good at killing pests.

How to prevent spiders entry

For good spider control around your home, we can apply insecticide to the area around your house to exterminate the spiders. External treatments against spiders are very effective for annual control.

Otherwise in terms of prevention, we explain to our customers that a home that is kept clean will have fewer insects that attract spiders. It is therefore necessary to vacuum frequently to prevent food crumbs from remaining on the floor or on the counters. In addition, as an experienced spider exterminator, we recommend caulking the entrances (holes and cracks) through which insects and spiders can enter.

Did you know?

In all, more than 44,000 species of spiders are listed, of which 677 are in the province of Québec!
The average life expectancy of a spider is 6 months to 1 year

Spiders that you may find in your home

The spiders that are found in the houses or cottages of our province are of different types:

The house spider:

this type of spider can be white, gray or black. Its front legs are larger than those of other spiders. She weaves her canvases in the upper corners of walls, behind furniture, in wardrobes, in damp bathrooms and in garages

The wolf spider:

this spider of 3 cm or less does not weave a web but rather hunts its insects. She enters houses in late fall to make her nest.

The Dolomede Spider:

This spider can grow to a size of 3 inches wide! It is held in chalets or houses located near lakes, streams or rivers. She eats insects and even small fish.

Cellar Spider:

This very frail spider with very long legs is found in basements or damp crawl spaces. However, it does not present any danger to humans.

The black widow:

this spider is only found in Quebec cities near the American border.

A spider exterminator on the South Shore of Montreal must know the spider habits to take care of the exterior and interior of your home for effective spider extermination!
