Assessment of the perimeter conditions of the industrial building
The initial inspection covered the entire exterior perimeter of the warehouse, which is a considerable area of foundation. Our technician conducted a structured assessment that included the following:
- Loading dock and rear reception area: accumulation of organic matter in the gutters, open expansion joints between the concrete of the slab and the building foundation, ideal as entry points for oriental cockroaches.
- East and West sides: strip of draining gravel partially obstructed by spontaneous vegetation that has grown against the walls, helping to maintain humidity at the foot of the foundation.
- Front façade: presence of high-intensity outdoor luminaires attracting flying insects at night, increasing pressure on the building envelope.
- Emergency doors: bottom of the door with days of at least one centimeter, without an effective seal, allowing the passage of cockroaches.
These observations were recorded in a formal inspection report provided to the manager, along with geotagged photographs for each critical point. This type of documentation is essential to meet the requirements of compliance audits in the retail industry.
Treatment strategy adapted to the industrial context
The processing protocol for this type of building must take into account the constraints of an active warehouse: the processing areas must be accessible without interrupting operations, and the products used must be approved for food or para-food environments, depending on the nature of the goods stored.
The first phase consisted of a broad-spectrum contact spray over the entire outer foundation strip, the dock areas and the surroundings of the emergency doors. A concentrated insecticide based on bifenthrin was used for its high persistence and proven effectiveness against cockroaches and ants in industrial settings. An application of insecticidal gel was deposited in the expansion joints of the receiving dock, specifically targeting oriental cockroaches that hide in these narrow spaces.
The second phase focused on caulking critical entry points : slab expansion joints, pipe penetrations and the base of the emergency doors. Stiff brush door brooms were recommended to replace deteriorated seals. This physical barrier is essential to complete the chemical action and prevent reinfestations.

Documentation, compliance and contractual follow-up
